Events in the Hall-Wattens region
During the summer there are a variety of events taking place in the Hall-Wattens region. Locals and visitors alike get to enjoy culinary, sports and cultural events.
In the Hall-Wattens region, pleasure is very much celebrated. A variety-packed array of culinary festivals take place throughout the year.
Hall Radish Festival
The area around the towns of Thaur and Absam is often described as Austria’s biggest vegetable garden. More than a half of all the radishes grown in Austria and many other vegetables come from here. At the annual radish festival the harvest is celebrated with music, delicious Tyrol food and radishes of course.
Hall Dumpling festival
Friday, 1. September 2017, 5:00 pm to10:00 pm and Saturday 2. September 2017, 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
The dumpling festival is an annual highlight of Hall’s events-packed summer. On the Stiftsplatz dumpling fans get to enjoy sampling these delicious round treats. Whether Tyrolean, Indian or Mexican dumplings, sweet or sour, Hall’s gastronomic establishments indulge visitors with over 30 different speciality dumplings.
Organic mountain farming festival
Saturday, 9. September 2017, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
‘BIO vom BERG’, the brand name for Tyrol’s organic farmers and Hall town marketing association, bring organic farmers to the Stiftsplatz in the historic Old Town area of Hall. Organic mountain farmers from north, east and south Tyrol, Salzburg, Trentino and Friaul offer their delicious foods, which are grown in accordance with organic guidelines. Delicious organic foods and fun is the maxim at this festival in September.
Kiachl’ and Autumn Festival of Hall’s farmers market
Saturday, 7. October 2017, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
After the harvest the farmers at Hall Farmers’ Market present their seasonal produce and delicious foods from the region at Oberer Stadtplatz in Hall. The offer great value-for-money promotions on potatoes, apples and much more. The autumn market also enjoys musical accompaniment from a local music group.
In the Hall-Wattens region not everything revolves around sports in the winter. In summer too there are numerous sporting events to celebrate and take part in.
Hall-Wattens half marathon
Saturday, 13 May, 2017, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The route for the Hall-Wattens half marathon proceeds from Hall’s Old Town along the Inn to Wattens and via the villages back to Hall. There are quite a few metres altitude to tackle on the variety-packed route.
Halltal – Express and Sport night in Absam
Sunday 11 June 2017, starting at 11:00 am, sports ground Absam
The Halltal – Express is a team competition for cyclists and runners of all ability levels. It is fun, not racing, which is to the fore. The real winners are all those who reach the finish at the end of the Halltal. A challenge for all leisure riders!
Glungezer mountain run

The Glungezer mountain run is the longest mountain run in Austria. In 2016 it will be taking place for the 6th time. The run starts in Volders, at 558 metres altitude. The course then meanders up to the summit of the Glungezer at 2678 metres.
Mountain bike race on Thaurer Alm

The race on the Thaurer Alm is a classic among riders. In its 22nd edition, once again there are 7.5 km and 839 metres altitude to tackles, with an average incline of 11.2 %.
Haller Turmlauf run
Sunday, September 24, 2017, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The route of the Haller Turmlauf run has is special – there are two towers, a tunnel, 590 steps and 486 metres altitude to tackle. In 2016 the event will be taking place for the 11th time. As well as the classic ‘Turmlauf’, the ‘Feuerwehrlauf’ will be held this year for the first time as a ‘rescue run’.
Whether it is literature, music, theatre or exhibitions, the Hall-Wattens region has a few things to offer in the cultural sector.
Music in the Giants

Swarovski Crystal Worlds invite you every year in May to the “Music in the Giants” festival, under the artistic direction of Tyrolean composer and pianist Thomas Larcher. This chamber music festival once again promises a great variety of top-class sounds in 2017.

Burgsommer Hall is part of the versatile cultural offering here every year. Numerous concerts, theatre performances and exhibitions are held in Hasegg Castle throughout the summer.
Klangstadt Hall in Tyrol

Klangstadt presents a very different sort of street music – little musical islands in Hall’s Old Town area. The borders between traditional folk music, new folk music and world music will be sounded out in entertaining fashion.
Friday 11 August and Saturday 12 August 2017, Wattens
On 11th and 12th August 2017 the ninth edition of the sustainable music, art and cultural festival Global 2000 Wiesenrock will take place in Wattens. Two exceptional bands have now committed to the event – Käptn Peng und die Tentakel von Delphi from Berlin and from Salzburg, Formation Olympique. With around 90 sustainability measures and with the emphasis being on the climate, Wiesenrock is also part of committed ‘Green Event Tirol’.
International Literature Day Sprachsalz
Friday 8 September to Sunday 10 September 2017
For the 15th time, Sprachsalz invites you to the International Literature Day in Hall in Tyrol. Once again around 20 authors will read from their works. “Literature for all!” is the maxim of the event organisers and free entry to the readings and discussions with the authors in the stylish ambience of the Parkhotel, Kurhaus Hall and Ablinger Media Tower. Garber will make this make this a real cultural adventure.
